being responsible for providing leadership to and management of the Technical Services and Innovation team in alignment with the overall strategic direction of Action Against Hunger-USA. The Technical Services & Innovation team includes expertise across a variety of technical areas critical to treating and preventing undernutrition around the world.
The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Program & Resource Development. S/he is a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and collaborates with SMT colleagues to execute Action Against Hunger-USA s organizational strategy. The Director, Technical Services & Innovation must be a passionate and visionary leader, energetic supporter and inspiring manager.
KEY ACTIVITIES IN YOUR ROLE WILL INCLUDESupporting the mobilization of critical resources through the design of country, regional and global programming, integrating innovative approaches and applied best practice;Drawing from the experience, knowledge, and evidence-base generated by field programming, the team engages strategically to influence the policies and practices of key stakeholders most critical to our organizational objectives and develops key partnerships to achieve programming at scale;Maximizing impact in country programs by supporting innovative programming and developing core policies, tools and guidance for best practice, and when necessary providing demand-driven support to field-based program & project implementation to help country teams deliver maximum impact;In partnership with the Horn & East Africa Regional Director, the Technical Services & Innovation Director will share responsibility for developing the concept for, launching, and leading the Nairobi-based Action Against Hunger Knowledge & Innovation Hub, a critical strategic initiative to drive organizational learning, knowledge transfer and capacity building, and providing technical support to country programs in the Horn and East Africa. DO YOU MEET THE PROFILE REQUIRED CRITERIA?
You re a dedicated and experienced professional
You have Master s degree or PhD or equivalent experience in the sectors of public health, food security, livelihoods, WASH, nutrition, etc.At least 10 years of experience as a nutritionist, public health specialist, or similar experience.At least 5 years of field experience, preferably in a technical program coordination role with an international NGO.At least 5 years of direct line management and supervisory experience.Familiarity with USAID/FFP, USAID/OFDA, other USAID, US BPRM required. Additional experience with DFID, German donors, SIDA, ECHO, GAC, etc. is beneficial
You re passionate about humanitarian work
You have genuine interest in and commitment to the humanitarian principles and strategic objectives of Action Against Hunger.You have flexibility and ability to work cooperatively with subordinates, colleagues, supervisor and external stakeholders.Willingness and ability to visit programs and attend meetings, both nationally and internationally.Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented and outcome focused capacities.
