    WILL YOU BE OUR NEXT HUMAN RIGHTS PROGRAMME INTERN?

    The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) is looking for an engaged, organised and bright intern for its Human Rights programme.

    Would you like to work with women, peace and security issues? Do you want to experience the UN Human Rights system and see how civil society interacts with it? Do you feel ready to experience the exciting – and sometimes chaotic – life of working in a grassroots organisation with small budgets and big ambitions?

    If you answered YES to the questions above, then we want you to be our next Human Rights Programme intern.

    Your tasks

    As a member of the dedicated WILPF team, your tasks will be exciting, diverse, and challenging. You will support our Human Rights Programme by taking part in the UN Human Rights bodies’ sessions and NGO coordination meetings and reporting on those, analysing the outcomes of human rights bodies’ country reviews, and helping to promote our work through our newsletter.

    You will also prepare articles for our website, training materials, working documents and other materials on human rights for publications, advocacy and for internal use.

    Your tasks will also include interaction and coordination with our National Sections all over the world, providing them with assistance in their participation in human rights bodies.

    We encourage you to apply if you are interested in human rights, and Women’s Rights and Peace issues in particular. The internship is perfect for an energetic, motivated person who wants to discover the world of feminist organisations and activism.

    The practical stuff

    The internship is Geneva-based and will start in early May 2020 to last for six months.

    Some 30% of your time will be dedicated to administrative support.

    WILPF is a signatory to the charter We Pay Our Interns. Our interns are paid a monthly gross stipend of 900 CHF.

    Requirements

    • Currently enrolled in a degree programme or holder of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in International Law, Human Rights, International Relations, Gender Studies, or a related field.
    • Human rights activism
    • Interest in WILPF’s mission and values

    · Strong writing skills and rigorous attention to detail;

    • Knowledge of issues around Women, Peace and Security and States’ extraterritorial obligations is an asset.
    • Fluency in English is a requirement;
    • Fluency in Spanishor French is also mandatory. Knowledge of both Spanish and French is an asset.

    · Advanced skills in Microsoft Office software suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel);

    • Experience with Database Management (Airtable), Task Management (Trello, Slack), Graphic Design tools (e.g. Adobe InDesign) is an asset.
    • Experience with WordPress or other CMS (Content Management Systems) is an asset.
