1. Organizational Context

  • Organizational Setting

    The post is located in the Madrid Operations and Functional Development Service, Madrid Operations Division. The Division utilizes the portfolio of business applications supporting the Madrid System.

  • Purpose Statement

    Madrid Operations Division (OPD) is embarking on a large IT transformation, involving projects such as IT infrastructure migrations and architecture review, namely the new Madrid Platform project (NMPP) and the development of new services on the current IT system (MIRIS). The role of the incumbent is to coordinate the planning, resourcing, execution and reporting of test activities required for the acceptance of the delivery from current development and future development under NMPP, following best practices and procedures.

  • Reporting Lines

    The incumbent works under the supervision of the Deputy Director of the Madrid Operations Division / Head of the Madrid Operations and Functional Development Service.

  • Work Relations

    The incumbent works closely with internal and external stakeholders, in particular, with existing test and quality assurance resources and with the development and maintenance teams of the operational systems that are the subject of this development and modernization project.

2. Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:

  • Participate in the creation and updates to the test and quality strategies, plans, and related project work products.
  • Define and implement User Acceptance test (UAT) processes and procedures as per standards defined by the Organization.
  • Conduct test estimation with a view to planning and provisioning the necessary additional test team resources.
  • Ensure that test environments are provisioned and fit for purpose.
  • Develop strategy for test automation.
  • Prepare and review project test artifacts: strategies, plans, scripts, test data and test reports.
  • Act as the point of contact between development teams, business analysts and testers.
  • Manage functional, non-functional, regression and non-regression testing for the project.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

3. Requirements

Education (Essential)

First-level university degree in computer science, information technology or other relevant field.

Education (Desirable)

Certification in Project Management, e.g. PRINCE2 or Agile.

Certification in testing, such as ISTQB.

Experience (Essential)

At least six years of relevant professional experience as a Test Manager. An advanced university degree in a relevant discipline may be accepted in lieu of two years of experience.

Experience in designing and implementing test automation strategies.

Experience with various test-sourcing models: onsite/offshore/TaaS, etc.

Experience with test management tools such as qTest.

Experience working on mid-large scale software transformation projects, preferably on SOA-based applications.

Experience (Desirable)

Experience with ORACLE Database products, Java, XML, etc.

Experience testing WebServices/APIs/Microservices, etc.

Experience in working with project frameworks (e.g. Prince 2, Agile).

Experience with performance testing, automation tools, frameworks and scripting languages.

Language (Essential)

Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.

Language (Desirable)

Knowledge of other Madrid languages (French, Spanish) or of major users of the Madrid System.

5. Information

Annual salary :

Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment. Please note that this estimate is for information only. The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice. The figures quoted below are based on the November 2019 rate of 76.7%.

Salaries and allowances are paid in Swiss francs at the official rate of exchange of the United Nations.

Temporary appointments are renewable, subject to continuing needs, availability of budget and satisfactory performance with a maximum cumulative length of two years.
