The NRC in South Sudan is hiring a Project Manager to be based in Koch, Central Unity. This is a new position, and the Project Manager will be responsible for developing and managing an integrated multi-sectoral response project, transitioning from General Food Distribution to more resilience focused programming.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage, train, equip and develop the Project Team
- Lead on transitioning programming from General Food Distribution into more resilience programming such as FFA, cash for work and other more sustainable programme gradually
- Ensure high technical quality, transparent and self-explanatory processes
- Represent Food Security Rapid Response in internal and external forums
- Responsible for project documentation
- Develop, manage and monitor the budget(s) according to Financial Handbook and donor requirements
- Ensure the transparent and cost efficient procurement of goods
- Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
- Implement project specific protection priorities
- Lead the grants start up meeting, prepare work plan, procurement plan, HR plan and spending plan for every newly approved project in consultation with the field team.
- Develop NRC Internal Framework for Food Security assessment and emergency related interventions
- Ensuring team member are aware of the NRC and UN Code of Conduct (CoC), and ensuring all team members are aware of the do’s and dont’s when undertaking the distributions e.g. Respect cultural norms, Do no harm, Confidentiality, Impartiality, Gender sensitivity, Field appropriate clothing
- Ensure operational linkages and representation with WFP and others relevant UN Agencies, Clusters and relevant working groups and NGO partner
Qualifications
- Relevant university degree or higher education, preferably in food security
- 5 years of experience from working as a Project Manager in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Technical expertise in Emergency Food Security and Livelihood required with flexibility to more resilient programming moving from General food distribution to more longer term programing
- Previous experience working in South Sudan is preferable
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of the context in South Sudan
- Experience with start-up, exit or similar
- Solid understanding and experience of crisis contexts and working in complex emergencies
Personal qualities
- Ability to work under stressful conditions, meet deadlines and travel extensively at short notice to support field operations or capacity building
- Ability to work with diplomacy, tact and sensitivity and experience in working within different cultural contexts requiring cultural sensitivity
- Well-developed interpersonal and team skills and proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations and ability to work under pressure and in response to changing needs.
