    Given that the Ministry of Energy and Water is currently updating the National Water Sector Strategy (NWSS) which includes an assessment of all on-going projects in the sector as well as planning for future work of the Ministry, the previous work of the Lebanese Centre for Water Management and Conservation (LCWMC) project can be integrated into the strategy, including the various angles related to conservation and environmental management. 
    The work also builds on the various on-going projects under implementation by the UNDP both within the response to the Syria Crisis (through the Lebanese Host-Community Support Programme) and beyond.  

    • Coordinate with the Ministry of Energy and Water, Water Establishments, WASH Sector Coordination Group, UNDP and others to ensure that best practices in the sector are identified, clarified and disseminated;
    • Attend Water Sector and WASH Coordination meetings as requested, document and disseminate key information as needed; 
    • Liaise with the concerned Ministries and the Water Establishments to clarify design matters and compliance with requirements including Environmental Impact Assessments and engineering design standards;
    • Liaise with various stakeholders to collect information on water and wastewater projects both on-going and planned to feed into the update of the NWSS
    • Support UNDP in the water and irrigation sector and analyse the best way forward taking into the update of the NWSS and national needs.
    • Provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Energy and Water in the update of the National Water Sector Strategy including advisory support on the environmental best-practices and sound water management approaches;
    • Assist the Ministry of Energy and Water and UNDP in identifying and drafting project proposals on water and wastewater projects based on MoEW’s priority interventions and secure government approval as needed;
    • Support the UNDP and MoEW on resource mobilization for the second phase of LCWMC and/or for other projects that would support the implementation of the NWSS; 
    • Coordinate with the Ministry of Energy and Water staff working in the sector and in the LCWMC while maintaining a direct reporting line with the Energy & Environment Programme;
    • Prepare progress report, technical reports, guidelines and other awareness material in the sector.
    • Provide general support the ministry in the water sector as needed, including the preparation of documentation for meetings, analysis of the sector needs, participation in key events, preparation of speeches and reports.
    • Good communication and coordination skills;
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately; 
    • Good IT skills;
    • Ability to draft analytical and results oriented reports and correspondence;
    • Adaptability skills;
    • Teamwork skills.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water or Environmental Management or other closely related field. 
    • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience in in the sector.
    • Experience with MoEW, UN or international donor project(s) or development projects is an asset.
    • Fluent Arabic and English. French is an asset.
